This is a position intended to support, drive and execute global operations at Dalberg Advisors. The individual will work closely with all key operational leaders (in particular – Finance, Knowledge Management, Legal, AI, Climate, IT) to help ensure the smooth global operations of the firm and to drive cross-functional change.
The individual will also help to coordinate with the functions that are outside of the remit of the GOP, including People and Communications. The individual will be a core part of the global leadership team (of the GMP, GOP, Global People Partner, Director of Communications, Chief of Staff and Strategy and Ops Fellow) and be a part of informing, supporting and helping to implement the decisions made by the Global Partner Group, GMP or GOP.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AND HOW YOU WILL GROW
A successful candidate will be expected to fulfil the following duties:
- Serve as the “right hand” person supporting the GOP and serve as strategy, thought and execution partner across a wide variety of operational priorities and issues
- Help manage the overall operational agendas / priorities for the firm, and helping the GOP to hold different teams accountable towards their goals
- Maintain a consolidated view of the firm’s operations functions, including priorities, owners, timelines, risks, dependencies, resourcing needs, and escalation points; support the GOP in prioritizing trade-offs across competing operational initiatives.
- Drive key cross-functional priorities for the firm as a whole, with oversight from the GOP (e.g., financial reporting automation, AI, improved culture for the operations team, etc.) and deliver results in accordance with KPIs for these cross-functional results.
- Work with functional leaders to drive and support function-specific priorities that are critical to change, in line with existing frameworks and processes
- Lead – alongside the GOP and COS – on strategic operational projects that will improve how Dalberg Advisors operates as a firm
- Help the GOP / GMP / Chief of Staff to “connect dots” and build connective tissue across operational fora (global and regional), and drive for greater coordination, including live problem solving on issues as they emerge.
- Work closely with the GOP and Chief of Staff on managing the agenda for and running of key governance fora, including SteerCo and the Strategic Finance Forum
- Support the GOP and key functional leaders of finance, people, etc. in establishing and running other Leadership forums
- Lead the design and implementation of select operational processes in the firm that don’t currently have a home, and drive greater efficiency in our operations processes globally
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff, GOP and GMP on the development of Global Partner Group and Management meeting materials that relate to operational priorities.
- Travel with the GMP/GOP team to meeting locations and support the smooth roll-out of operations-related sessions, including presenting on key workstreams.
- Support the GOP in working with functional leaders to set agendas, workplans and KPIs, and work with the GOP to ensure that these KPIs are being met.
- Be flexible and willing to execute on a variety of other ad hoc tasks, including picking up specific projects within Ops functions.
- Manage and oversee the professional development of the Strategy & Ops fellow(s) on workstreams related to finance, IT, knowledge management, legal, AI, sustainability, or other cross-cutting priorities.
The individual will have an excellent vantage point on how a dynamic and global firm is run, how it can be improved, and play a leading role in making changes themselves. They will receive coaching from the Global Operations Partner directly, and indirectly from the Chief of Staff and Global Managing Partner. They will have the chance to learn the nuts and bolts of key operational functions – so for anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in managing and growing a business or organization, this will be a great learning opportunity. They will also be provided with on-the-job training, which includes both the core consulting toolkit, as well as additional skills around facilitation, stakeholder engagement and more. You will be expected to “walk the talk” on Dalberg’s external value proposition, by bringing the rigor of strategic advisory to the day-to-day operations of a social enterprise. There will be learning curve associated with this role, but those who are able to master it quickly will be eligible to take on further levels of responsibility as their careers progress and their responsibilities will grow as the company grows.
